LUUWAFC is the University of Leeds’ women’s football club, made up of three teams.
The first team play in the BUCS Northern 1A league. For the past two seasons they’ve won the league and last year were one of the most successful BUCS teams at the University. The second and third teams play in the BUCS Northern 4B league.
Training takes place on Mondays 5-6:30pm and Tuesdays 8:30-10pm, as well as a strength and conditioning session on Fridays 4-5pm. Matches take place on Wednesday afternoons, followed by teas, where you have a chance to sit down with your teammates and have a post-match meal.
LUUWAFC is one big family. No matter what team you play for, you’ll soon be friends with everyone in the club. Every Wednesday evening we have a social, which normally consists of a fun night out in Leeds complete with fancy dress. However we’ve also gone bowling, trampolining and out for meals. Wednesdays will soon become your favourite day of the week!
The LUUWAFC calender is always packed with exciting events. Varsity kicks our season off, and is one of the best days of the year. During the day we play our arch rivals Leeds Beckett and then watch the fiercely contested rugby match at Headingley Stadium in the evening. Other standout events include a week on tour, Christie Cup, Ladies Day, and Alumni weekend, which includes a ball.
